Client Description

My client is a rapidly scaling fashion retail platform with a portfolio of lifestyle and apparel brands, currently expanding its footprint across Southeast Asia. Backed by strong growth momentum, the business is focused on building a high-performance retail organisation with best-in-class store operations, merchandising, and regional expansion capabilities

Role Description

You will be leading the end-to-end merchandising function, with full ownership of product strategy and performance across categories and markets. The position is responsible for driving revenue, margin optimisation, and inventory efficiency through effective assortment planning, buying decisions, and in-season trading.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category and seasonal assortment strategies aligned with market needs and brand direction
• Lead buying cycles, including product selection, demand planning, and SKU optimisation
• Tailor assortments by country, store format, and customer profile
• Track and analyse product performance, including sell-through, pricing, and margin contribution
• Drive in-season trading actions such as promotions, markdowns, and replenishment strategies
• Balance sales growth with inventory control and margin protection
• Oversee stock planning, allocation, and replenishment across markets
• Manage inventory flow from suppliers through to stores, ensuring optimal stock availability
• Reduce excess inventory and minimise stock-outs through proactive planning

Requirements

• Min 10 years of experience in merchandising, buying, or category management within fashion or high-volume retail
• Strong commercial acumen with expertise in assortment planning, forecasting, and margin management
• Experience managing seasonal collections and complex product portfolios
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders
• Familiarity with supplier networks and production processes, particularly within China, is an advantage
• Mandarin proficiency is required for stakeholder communication
