Role Description
This role will be responsible for reviewing and advising on commercial agreements, managing employment-related legal matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and providing legal support across daily business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements, including procurement, sales, service, and vendor contracts.
Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks relating to contractual obligations, liabilities, dispute resolution, indemnities, and commercial transactions.
Develop, maintain, and standardise legal templates, contract management processes, and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
Provide legal support on all employment-related matters, including employment contracts, disciplinary actions, employee relations, terminations, and labour disputes.
Advise internal stakeholders on day-to-day legal, regulatory, and compliance matters while ensuring adherence to Malaysian laws and company policies.
Oversee corporate compliance programmes, conduct periodic compliance reviews, and implement corrective actions to address identified gaps.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments, update internal policies accordingly, and conduct legal and compliance awareness training for employees.
Support dispute resolution, corporate governance initiatives, risk management activities, and other legal or compliance projects assigned by management.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent, with strong knowledge of Malaysian legal and regulatory frameworks.
Minimum 3–5 years of legal experience, preferably in corporate commercial law, contract review, procurement and sales agreements, or employment-related legal matters.
Strong understanding of Malaysian commercial, contract, and employment laws, with the ability to independently identify legal risks and provide practical business-oriented solutions.
Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, coupled with strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and spoken); proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage. Admission to the Malaysian Bar and prior in-house corporate legal experience will be an added advantage.
