Role Description
This role will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, GL, month-end closing, inventory reconciliation, fixed assets, and financial reporting activities. The position will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth finance operations, compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, while supporting audit, tax, project costing, and ERP-related processes within a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and review AP and General Ledger work prepared by Accounts Assistants.
Ensure timely month-end closing for AP, inventory, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, bank reconciliation, and GL.
Prepare monthly journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet schedules, and intercompany reconciliations.
Manage fixed asset register, depreciation run in ERP system, and monitor CAPEX payments in line with SOPs and cash flow forecasts.
Oversee AP payments, subcontractor payments, and staff claims processing in compliance with company policies.
Work closely with logistics team on inventory cut-off, stock take coordination, variance reconciliation, and stock adjustment postings.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, SST submissions, tax filings, and internal SOPs.
Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and company secretaries on audit, tax, and statutory matters, while promptly escalating any irregularities to Finance Manager.
Requirements
Degree in Accountancy or related qualification, with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a supervisory accounting role.
Prior exposure within construction and/or engineering industry is preferred, including project costing and WIP revenue recognition.
Hands-on ERP system experience is required; exposure to Navision will be an added advantage.
