Head of Hardware & Software, Philippines
Role Overview:
- Lead and manage a team consisting of engineering managers, technical leads, and software developers responsible for delivering embedded software product portfolio.
- Ensure delivery excellence by achieving targets across time, quality, specification, and cost.
- Develop strong working relationships with global software leadership and cross-functional product and engineering teams.
- Act as the primary representative of the embedded software function, ensuring clear and effective communication between stakeholders and leadership.
- Escalate key issues and provide visibility on Philippines-based engineering matters to the broader leadership team.
- Drive team performance by removing obstacles, resolving critical challenges, and preventing delivery delays while fostering a strong team culture.
- Provide technical leadership when required, guiding software design and encouraging adoption of best practices such as CI/CD and unit testing.
- Build and scale the engineering organization by identifying capability gaps, hiring, onboarding, and retaining top talent.
- Promote continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and workflows to enhance efficiency and product quality.
- Mentor and develop team members to strengthen technical skills and leadership capability.
Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in line management or technical leadership of embedded software teams delivering production-grade solutions.
- At least 10+ years of embedded software development experience using C/C++, including both bare metal and RTOS environments OR any other Programming languages with relevant embedded Software exposure.
- Strong understanding of modern SDLC practices including version control, TDD, and CI/CD.
- Proven experience managing Agile delivery using tools such as Jira.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to build high-performing engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills, able to present technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Fluent in English.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in IoT, motor control, and sensor control software.
- Familiarity with build systems and software configuration management tools.
