About the Role
Our client is an established and rapidly expanding organisation within the renewable energy space is seeking a commercially driven and strategic Commercial Director. This role is suited for a high-calibre leader with strong business acumen, operational oversight, and growth mindset, who is ready to take full ownership of a business unit. The incumbent will be responsible for driving overall performance, scaling operations, and ensuring sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the subsidiary’s business strategy in alignment with the broader group direction.
- Develop annual plans, revenue strategies, and operational frameworks to achieve growth targets.
- Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and avenues for market expansion.
2. Commercial & Financial Management
- Take full ownership of financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and revenue growth.
- Manage profit and loss to ensure strong margins, cost discipline, and financial accountability.
- Enhance commercial models, pricing strategies, and overall go-to-market approach.
3. Operational Excellence
- Oversee project execution to ensure timely delivery, quality standards, and compliance with safety requirements.
- Establish and drive standardised processes, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with technical and project teams to ensure efficient operations.
4. Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, regulators, and key external stakeholders.
- Act as the representative of the business in leadership discussions, investor engagements, and industry forums.
- Provide regular updates on performance, risks, and strategic direction to senior leadership.
5. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team across functions.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and performance-driven culture.
- Drive talent development, succession planning, and organisational capability building.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- Approximately 10–12 years of relevant experience in renewable energy, utilities, engineering, construction, EPC, or similar industries.
- Demonstrated track record in leading business units, large-scale projects, or commercial portfolios.
- Strong exposure to P&L management, strategic planning, and business growth initiatives.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and delivering operational results.
- Strong communication, analytical thinking, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Agile, hands-on, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
