A leading global industrial automation and digital transformation company is seeking a Sourcing Engineer (Mechanical) to join its procurement team in Kuala Lumpur.
This role is responsible for managing the sourcing and procurement of mechanical commodities, developing strategic supplier partnerships, and driving cost, quality, and supply performance. Working closely with engineering, operations, and global sourcing teams, you will play a key role in ensuring a resilient and competitive supply base while supporting new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for mechanical commodities.
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers to ensure cost competitiveness, quality, and delivery performance.
- Lead RFQs, supplier negotiations, and contract discussions.
Supplier Management
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance.
- Drive supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Resolve supply, quality, and delivery issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support production and new product introduction.
- Provide sourcing expertise for mechanical components and manufacturing processes.
- Support cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.
Market & Cost Analysis
- Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and commodity pricing.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and supply chain resilience.
- Maintain accurate procurement data and supplier performance metrics.
Requirements
We're looking for candidates with:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in sourcing, procurement, or supplier management involving mechanical commodities.
- Strong understanding of mechanical components, manufacturing processes, and supplier development.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and commercial negotiations.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multinational environment.
