Director, Trade & GPO (US Market)


Atomic is representing a fast-growing global biopharmaceutical company in the search for a Director, Trade & GPO to lead the US trade channel and Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) strategy for a growing portfolio of oncology, biosimilar, and specialty biologic products.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced market access professional to shape US commercialization strategy, build key customer partnerships, and drive market access across the trade ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the US Trade & GPO strategy aligned with commercial launch and portfolio growth objectives.
  • Lead engagement and contract negotiations with national and regional GPOs, IDNs, health systems, and organized customers.
  • Design and implement contracting strategies that optimize formulary access, channel performance, and net price realization.
  • Manage the full contract lifecycle, including negotiation, implementation, compliance, and performance monitoring.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Pricing, Market Access, Sales, Medical Affairs, Supply Chain, Finance, and Commercial teams to ensure successful launch execution.
  • Evaluate distribution strategies across wholesalers, specialty pharmacies, buy-and-bill, and alternate sites of care.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key GPOs, IDNs, distributors, and strategic partners.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team while driving operational excellence and commercial growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience within the US pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Strong expertise in US Trade, GPO, National Accounts, Market Access, or Contracting.
  • Proven experience negotiating and managing contracts with major GPOs and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs).
  • Experience supporting oncology, biosimilars, biologics, or specialty pharmaceutical products.
  • Solid understanding of US reimbursement, ASP pricing, Gross-to-Net (GTN), and trade contracting.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.

Preferred Experience

  • MBA, PharmD, MPH, or other advanced degree.
  • Experience launching biosimilars or specialty biologics in the US market.
  • Established relationships with national GPOs, major IDNs, wholesalers, and specialty pharmacy partners.
  • Experience working within both large pharmaceutical organizations and high-growth biotech environments.
